Signature Ramen
A rich and flavorful ramen that combines traditional techniques with modern flair.
Ingredients
- 4 large eggs
- 8 cups chicken or pork stock
- 1 lb fresh ramen noodles
- 1 lb pork belly, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 inches fresh ginger, sliced
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp mirin
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 4 green onions, sliced
- 2 sheets nori seaweed
- 1 cup bamboo shoots
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the eggs: Bring a pot of water to boil. Carefully add eggs and cook for 6-7 minutes for soft-boiled. Transfer to ice bath, then peel and set aside.
- Make the broth: In a large pot, heat sesame oil over medium heat. Add garlic and ginger, sauté until fragrant, about 2 minutes.
- Add the stock, soy sauce, and mirin to the pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes to develop flavors.
- While the broth simmers, cook the pork belly in a separate pan over medium-high heat until crispy and caramelized, about 8-10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- Cook the ramen noodles according to package directions. Drain and divide among four bowls.
- Strain the broth and ladle it over the noodles in each bowl.
- Top each bowl with sliced pork belly, half an egg, green onions, bamboo shoots, and a sheet of nori.
- Serve immediately while hot. Enjoy!
